JAMES D THORPE, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania WWI Veteran

THORPE, JAMES D.-Son of Mathew N. Thorpe, of Larimer. He enlisted with Company A, 107th Machine Gun Battalion. June 8, 1917, and was assigned to Camps Hancock and Merritt. Thorpe went overseas May 1918, and was in the battles of Chateau Thierry and Argonne. He was killed while fighting at Argonne by shrapnel on Oct. 7, 1918. and is buried in the American Cemetery in France.
