[The following obituary notices of officers and privates who
served in the Continental Line and Militia of Pennsylvania during
the Revolution have been collected from the newspapers of Montgomery
county.]

Capt. William Holgate.-Departed this life on the 12th. inst. at his
residence in Lower Merion township, Montgomery county, Capt. William
Holgate, a soldier of the Revolution, aged 81 years and ten months.

The deceased entered the army a mere youth and engaged in the principal
battles fought in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and deserved well of his
country.
