MIRKIL, HAZLETON, jr.,
Seaman, 2nd Class, U. S. N. R. F., March 5, 1918; Ensign, October
28, 1917. Duty at Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida. Placed on
inactive duty, December 7, 1918.

PETTY, ORLANDO H., M. D.,
Lieutenant, Medical Corps, U. S. N. R. F.; appointed April 2, 1917.
Served with 5th Regiment Marines 17 months in France, 5 months
of this as Battalion Surgeon on front line. Gassed near Belleau
Wood. Distinguished Service Cross. Awarded by the President in
December, 1917. The Congressional Medal of Honor for
“conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of
duty in action” while serving with the 5th Marines, June 11th, 1918,
Bois de Belleau, France. The citation is as follows: “While under
heavy fire of high explosive and gas shells in the town of Lucy,
Lorraine, where his dressing station was located, he attended to and
evacuated the wounded under most trying conditions. Having been
knocked to the ground by an exploding gas shell, which tore his
mask, he discarded the mask and courageously continued his work.
His dressing station being hit and demolished, he personally helped
carry Captain Williams, wounded, through the shell fire to a place
of safety.” Placed on inactive duty, December 20, 1918.

ROSS, GEORGE GORGAS, M. D.,
Lieutenant and Lieutenant Commander, Medical Corps, U. S. N. R.
F.; entered service June 20,1917; extensive surgical experience,
Paris, Chateau Thierry and at other bases. Inactive list, February 24, 1919.

SAUNDERS, WILLIAM LAWRENCE, 2nd.,
Entered service, August 29, 1917, as Ensign, Supply Corps, U. S. N.
R. F.; Lieutenant, junior grade, July 1, 1918. Served at Sayville,
Long Island, and on U. S. Steamer Transport Pocahontas. Placed on
inactive list, February 22, 1919.

SHULL, CHARLES JACOB,
Entered July 9, 1917, U. S. N. R. F., (no grade given) Supply Corps,
serving with the Navy Fleet Supply Base at the Philadelphia Navy
Yard; also in the U. S. S. Henderson. Promoted Ensign, Supply
Corps, U. S. N. R. F., March 16, 1918. Highly commended by the
C. O. of the U. S. S. Henderson for “excellent behavior and the
efficient manner in which you discharged your duties under extreme
difficulties (fire aboard the Henderson, July 2, 1918) on the above
mentioned occasion.” (Signed) Josephus Daniels. Ordered to
inactive duty, April 26, 1919.

STEVENSON, MARKLEY,
Ensign, Naval Reserve Force, Aviation; entered July 27, 1918. No
other data.

STOCKHAUSEN, THOMAS GEORGE,
Entered as Ensign, Supply Corps, U. S. N. R. F., May 15, 1917;
Lieutenant, junior grade, November 2, 1918; duty at U. S. Naval Air
Station, Dunkirk, France, May, 1917, to December, 1918. Placed on
inactive duty, December 31, 1918.
