Major, May 8, 1919, by selection for efficiency. Served at various
camps in the United States. In regular army.

SHANNON, CHARLES EMERY GOULD, M. D.,
Entered September 20, 1917, as Lieutenant, Medical Reserve Corps,
U. S. A.; promoted Captain, July 3, 1918. Served at various camps
in the United States. Honorably discharged, April, 1919.

SHELLY, JAMES ACUFF,
1st Lieutenant, U. S. Army Medical Reserve Corps, December 12,
1917 to date, March 25, 1919. Served at Walter Reed Hospital,
Washington, D. C. No other data.

SHEPHERD, GEORGE ELWOOD,
Captain, Engineers, U. S. Army, July, 1917. Served at Camp
American University, Washington, D. C., and Camp Sherman,
Chillicothe, Ohio, 1917. With A. E. F. in France for 18 months.
Service at Allerey, Saone-et-Loire, France, from January 30, 1918.
Honorably discharged, July 26, 1919.

SMITH, ALEXIS DUPONT, M. D„
1st Lieutenant, Medical Corps, U. S. A., May, 1917; promoted
Captain, May, 1918. Served one and one-half years at Columbus
Barracks, Ohio, as Chief of Medical Service. Still in service March
25, 1919. No date of discharge given.

SNYDER, GEORGE DUNCAN,
Captain, 102nd Engineers, U. S. National Guard, August 5, 1917;
Major, February 19, 1919. Served in 2nd and 4th British armies in
Belgium and France. With War Damage Board of American
Commission to negotiate peace, Paris, Rome and Padua, January
16th to February 26th, 1919.
Honorably discharged, April 3, 1919.

STAHLER, HORACE CRAWFORD,
1st Lieutenant, Ordnance Department, U. S. A., December, 1917.
Duty at Washington, D. C. Honorably discharged, December 21,
1918.

STEINMETZ, JOSEPH ALLISON,
Entered in November, 1918, as Major, U. S. Ordnance Reserve
Corps; in addition, Member, 1918, National Research Council,
Engineering Division; Member, 1917-1918, Submarine Defense
Association; President, Aero Club of Pennsylvania, 1915 to 1919.

STINE, HENRY MOORE,
Captain, 28th Division, 112th Infantry. U. S. N. G., July 15, 1917, to
discharge. Served at Camps Wadsworth and Hancock. Honorably
discharged, February 5, 1918.

STOCKHAM, EDWARD VILLEROY,
Major, U. S. N. A., 81st Division, October 22, 1917, to July 2, 1919.
Served with both Q. M. C. and Artillery Corps; commanded 306th Am­
munition Train with A.E. F., in France. Honorably discharged, July 2,
1919.
